IKEA issued a recall to an estimated 75,000 detachable “safety gates” in the U.S. and Canada after receiving three reports of children suffering from injuries, a May 12 article of ABC News reported.
Reports said the removable safety gates may not be properly secured between the walls, increasing the risk of children suffering from falls. The affected IKEA products were also found to have a metal bar in the lower portion that may potentially cause injury. IKEA received at least 18 complaints of malfunctioning safety gates worldwide, including the three injury complaints. Many of the faulty safety gates are available in the U.S.
