More than 200,000 General Motors (GM) vehicles in the U.S. are being recalled due to a potential fire risks caused by a braking defect, USA Today reported on September 20.
The recall affects 205,309 previous and recent models of GM Cadillac and Impalas in the U.S. that are equipped with an electronic parking brake arm. GM explained that the affected models may catch fire if the brake arm failed to retract to its original position after stepping on the brake pedal. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by GM for the free repair. Injuries and fire incidents involving the recalled vehicles were unknown to GM.
