Goings Law Firm, LLC has helped a client win a $2 million verdict after she tripped and fell outside of the Lexington County Auxiliary Administration Building.
Our client, a 60-year-old woman from Lexington, was turning in an absentee ballot in October of 2020 when she tripped over a hazardous three-inch channel or gap in the sidewalk. She broke her arm in two places, requiring surgery. Her medical bills totaled $92,000.
She offered to settle her case with the county for $150,000, which the county declined. The case recently went to trial, and after three days, a jury awarded her $2 million. Historically, Lexington County has been conservative with its awards, making outcomes like this a rarity.
