After a single hour of deliberation, a jury in Orangeburg County ordered our client to be awarded over $1.1 million in actual damages. Mr. Bobby McClellan was injured while assisting with the improvement of a dock at a private lake when a piece of heavy equipment collapsed and hit him. McClellan sustained serious injury to his spine and ribs, which caused permanent disabilities.
The damages must be paid by the owner of the property on which the accident occurred. While the court did find that Mr. McClellan shared a minor amount of responsibility for the accident—10 percent to be exact—he will still be recovering around $1 million for his pain and suffering.
Our very own Robert Goings, one of the attorneys who represented McClellan, told The State that “Bobby [McClellan] was very appreciative of the jury’s award.”
