A female volleyball coach at South Florence High School was recently killed in Manning, S.C. after she was involved in an accident, an article of Morning News Online reported on January 18.
Corporal Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol stated that on January 17, 38-year-old Michelle Hickson was involved in a seemingly minor collision near mile marker 100. This first wreck caused Hickson’s vehicle to stall on a bridge, at which point she exited her car. While Hickson was stopped on the bridge, a second vehicle struck her car while attempting to pass the scene of the first wreck. This collision forced Hickson off the bridge and into Marion Lake.
The details of the collision and Hickson’s death are still unclear, and investigators are working to determine what exactly happened. No details have been released regarding the second vehicle or its driver, and no charges have been filed at this time.
